Human curiosity, the urge to know, is a powerful force and is perhaps the best secret weapon of all in the struggle to unravel the workings of the natural world.”

Lorri is an author, speaker, health coach, nutritional biochemist, and the founder of Healthy Awareness. She has a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from California Polytechnic State University and a Master of Science in Chemistry from San Jose University. Utilizing her degrees and personal experience as a professional bodybuilder, Lorri is an expert health and fitness coach and has helped hundreds of women find the nutritional and lifestyle balance to live an energetic life.

Lorri’s journey started because she has always been immensely curious about the world around her.

“Since I was young, I’ve been curious about almost everything. My parents were so used to hearing questions like, ‘Why is the sky blue during the day and black at night?’ that they bought a set of encyclopedias so my brothers and I could look up all the questions that came to my mind. Instead of watching TV, my parents would give us topics to look up, and then we would share what we learned with the family.”

That curiosity has led Lorri on a rich and varied journey to where she is now. Her love of animals, and participation in the Future Farmers of America, found her completing her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with an emphasis in veterinary medicine and animal nutrition at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA.

Realizing that as much as she loves animals, the surgeries and euthanasia duties required of a veterinarian were not for her, Lorri remembered that she had enjoyed working out in school and felt empowered by it. As a result, she decided to take on a new challenge: becoming a competitive bodybuilder. In her own words:

“The journey of learning what it takes to put on muscle and lose fat had many ups and downs. When I tried to cut my carbs to a low level, I had no brain cells working. Then I learned about low glycemic carbs and how I could eat more while still losing fat. And, I learned what foods worked for my body. I could have the foods that I loved but learned that the time of day, quantity, and food combinations made a difference. I was able to put on a couple more pounds of muscle for the next year’s competition and made it to the middleweight class. This success fueled in me a passion to study nutrition and nutritional supplements. I was curious, ‘How do you know what supplements you really need?’”

The next part of Lorri’s journey took her back to school to earn a Master of Science in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from San Jose University. That led to a career in managing Clinical Trials for 20 years for large pharmaceutical and small biotech companies.

When she turned 46 years old she realized:

“My body started to change right before my eyes and I didn’t understand what was going on. I got belly fat, gained weight on my thighs and butt, and even with a hot boyfriend I had no desire for sex. Did I mention that black hairs started growing out of my chin and neck and I would wake at 2 am and not be able to go back to sleep?!? I was tired, anxious, cranky, depressed, and mad at the world and needed answers fast.”

Lorri studied lifestyle changes needed in order to help her go through menopause painlessly and still functioning at her peak. She realized that stress was negatively affecting her health. She also learned how to recognize all of the toxins in personal skincare, haircare, and make-up that throw your hormones out of balance and can cause cancer. As a result, she implemented lifestyle and nutrition changes and found she had more energy, mental clarity, slept better, and enjoyed sex again, not to mention she lost the extra pounds! All of that led her to start her own nutritional/life coaching business in 2014 after becoming certified as a John Maxwell Leadership coach and speaker.

Since then, Lorri has helped hundreds of women find the nutritional and lifestyle balance to live an energetic healthy life after the hormonal changes begin at age 40 and beyond. Lorri wants you to know:
